State Representative Alex Burton was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives on November 5, 2024, representing House District 77 in Evansville. He serves on the House committees for Family, Children, and Human Affairs; Judiciary; Natural Resources, where he serves as Ranking Minority Member; and Utilities, Energy, and Telecommunications.

A lifelong Evansville resident, Rep. Burton was born and raised in the community his family has called home for generations, with roots dating back to the 1800s. He is a graduate of Indiana State University and Western Kentucky University and brings a commitment to practical, forward-thinking policies that strengthen families, expand opportunity, and support Indiana’s long-term economic prosperity.

Rep. Burton believes effective public service begins with listening, collaboration, and a willingness to tackle difficult challenges. His legislative priorities reflect a commitment to responsible solutions that protect Hoosier families, promote educational opportunity, strengthen communities, and advance policies that balance economic growth with long-term responsibility.

Beyond the Statehouse, Rep. Burton has developed programs that connect youth, adults, and families with federal, state, and local resources to help them reach their full potential. He works to bring people, organizations, and community partners together to turn shared priorities into meaningful solutions.

Rep. Burton is married to Dr. Xavia H. Burton, and they have two sons, Arrington Robert and Andrew Rhett. Their family also includes two dogs, Susie Carmichael and Rallo Tubbs. They reside in Evansville’s Fourth Ward, between Bellemeade and Bayard Parks.
